8th Grade Parents

August/September

Students will take the FastBridge areading and amath exam. Some of these results may affect which course your student will be placed.

Fall

Students take the Naviance assessment during Language Arts classes to help them choose a Career for their Career Speech project. This is also helpful in choosing classes for 9th grade.

December

The junior high counselors will be visiting the classrooms to discuss credits, G.P.A., class rank, and other high school topics.

The high school counselors will also come in December to talk to the students about the different course options students will have available to them at the high school. 

The high schools host an open house for 8th graders and their families. Attendance is highly recommended! Students attend the open house of the school they will be attending. Information regarding the day and time will come directly from the high schools. 

January

8th-grade students will be signing up for courses for their freshman year. They will not be choosing a schedule, but simply requesting courses.   

February

Parents can schedule an appointment with their student's counselor to discuss four-year plans.    

March

The last day to change requests for courses for next year will be the Friday before Spring Break.
